The Crafts We Celebrate

Aari Embroidery

One of Kashmir's most revered needlework traditions, Aari embroidery uses a hooked needle to create intricate floral and paisley motifs. A single dupatta can take an artisan 15–30 days to complete. Our artisans in Srinagar have practiced this craft since childhood, learning at the knee of their parents and grandparents.

Kashmiri Zari (Mughal Zari)

Rooted in Mughal-era court traditions, Zari work weaves metallic gold and silver threads into fabric to create luminous, regal patterns. The technique demands extraordinary precision- one wrong pull can unravel hours of work.

Kashmiri Machine Embroidery

A contemporary evolution of traditional hand techniques, Kashmiri machine embroidery allows artisan communities to scale their craft while maintaining the distinctive aesthetic of Kashmiri design. It provides steady, dignified employment for artisan families.

Our founder, Aditi Shishoo, carries Kashmir not just in her roots but in everything she creates. A Kashmiri Pandit based in Gujarat, her journey is one of staying deeply connected to a land that continues to shape her identity.

She returns to Kashmir often, walking through the lanes of Srinagar, sitting with artisans in their workshops and understanding the stories behind every craft. Each collection is built with care, respect and intention.

At Kashmiriyat, there are no middlemen, ensuring that a fair share reaches the hands that create your piece. We work directly with weavers across the Kashmir Valley, family run embroidery ateliers and local dyers who keep these traditions alive.
